Took the kids swimming today and tried out my new wetsuit. I bought a blueseventy Pointzero3+ for my upcoming open water races. I expect the water in London and especially Copenhagen to be cold, so I needed something. I decided on the blueseventy because it is FINA-approved.
FINA has recently gone crazy with technical suits. I can't say I blame them though. I read somewhere that since the advent of these super-fast suits, world records have been dropping weekly. Even records that have stood for decades. A bunch of swimming federations in various countries came together and told FINA to outlaw them, and so they did.
Unfortunately, what that means for a bunch of people who have dropped $500+ on a tech suit is that they have to go out and buy new ones. I held off til the last minute; I waited for FINA's approved list. The blueseventy I got is on the approved list for open water. [At least, it was when I last checked...and now I can't find it on any approved list...uh oh.] And it cost me a lot less than what other people paid for their full suits!
Anyway, I think I look pretty good in it. And I sure felt fast today!
A picture of me in my new suit!

I like swimming, but I don't know if I could do what you're doing

Of course you could. It's the same as swimming 1K, 2K, whatever in a pool. Just no flip-turns or lane lines! And way more fun with all the other people thrashing around near you.
