I bought a wetsuit some time ago, a very nice blueseventy pointzero3, which I love. I also bought, only because people told me I had to, body glide. The theory is that you put it on places where the suit rubs.
Well, sounds like a good plan. When I wore my wetsuit to 'test' it out, no part of it rubs anywhere, at least not enough for me to notice. So when I packed for the Christiansborg Round (see below post), I didn't bother with the Body Glide.
When I got out of the water, ate my banana, drank my bottle of water, I felt a slight tingle around my neck. It felt like a salt rub. I thought perhaps I had either gotten a sunburn from the swim (in 40 minutes? Probably not) or salt from the water was rubbing against the skin. But why would it only hurt there.
My support team (son) told me I was a bit red there. Well, imagine my surprise when I got back to the hotel and saw myself in the mirror.
After it scabbed up it got even worse. To a lesser extent I have the same wound on the other side of my neck. If I were a better swimmer, the wounds would be equal on both sides!
Lesson learned. Body glide will accompany me on my next swim!

Good to know! I just bought a wetsuit myself:) I'm hoping the race won't be wetsuit legal though. It won't be fun taking that thing off in a hurry during a triathlon transition:(
