OK, granted, I buy from the grab bag. I don't really care what I swim in, as evidenced from my Dolfin Uglies. But really, shouldn't swim suits last more than a few months?
Exhibit one. A Tyr grab bag suit, snagged for about $15. A jammer, nice and basic. Nothing more than I need. Just something to cover my junk. But within 2 months, I get this wonderful see-through effect you see in the below picture.
I can't swim in that. I've shown you a little see-through-ness towards the top, but let me assure you. I was surprised the day I changed after my workout. As I took off my suit, I noticed that I could see through both the crotch and butt sections. Nice. No wonder the Russian ladies ran screaming when I got out of the pool.
Exhibit two. A fantastic square-leg suit. I love these. Not a grape-smuggler, and not a jammer. Just enough to not be, well, inappropriate around kids. Thankfully this big "reveal" happened after I already got to the locker room.
Yes, that's the butt end.

Maybe its time to spend a bit more than $15 on a suit, bro.....

so here's how I keep from being accidentally naked at the pool... layers! I always have a grape smuggler base to hold everything together on the bottom, and a square leg/drag suit/jammer over the top for aesthetics. If one layer fails you have back up. I've employed this for decades now and it is yet to fail me :)

I wear two suits as well. Also I just started being picky about what fabric the suits must be. Started buying PBT or other chlorine resistant fabrics.

@Lisa, you're probably right, sis.
@Rob, I doubled until the jammer died. Now it is Uglies only.
@Gords, what is PBT?

One Speedo Endurance+ polyester suit will cost 2x (maybe 3x at most) as much as a cheapo grab-bag suit, but will last at least 10x as long. I actually have never had the fabric of a Speedo Endurance suit wear out, so I don't know the upper limit. The seams started to come apart on one after literally a couple years of use. And I've lost a couple others. But the fabric is pretty much invincible.
