Haven't posted for a while, sorry dear reader(s). I've been very busy with trips to the Russian Far East and the U.S., as well as much work here in town. That has limited my swimming time, unfortunately, but I'm just calling it a long taper.
The Dart 10K is next Saturday. My first marathon swim. I am treating it like I think most first-time running marathoners treat their first, as an experience, a chance to see what it is all about. NOT as a race. NOT as a test of my training. I will simply aim for finishing.
Of course, I can't just say that. I have to choose a time, a goal time, a point at which I hope to already be imbibing something warm. And that time is 3:40.
Both of the 5Ks I've done so far I felt like I could have kept swimming. Both were swum in 1:47-1:48. I should probably give myself another two hours after that to complete the second 5K, but I'll stick to my goal.
There will be two feeding stations, one at 4K and the other at 8K. I plan on definitely taking something to drink. Something with salt in it. Not sure I'm going to eat. I'd heard that they'll have pancakes and sausages at the feeding stations. Not sure if that is British humour (haha) or if they really will have flapjacks. We'll see. Not sure I can eat at that point.

Looks like a great swim! Point to point? Awesome.

sausage and pancake feed stations? haha, that makes me want to throw up in my mouth a little bit! Might I recommend stuffing some gu packets in your suit for consumption at you leisure. Good luck with the swim!
