In a press statement on the death of Fran Crippen last Saturday, UAE Swimming Association executive director, Ayman Saad, said in a statement, "We are sorry that [Fran Crippen] died, but what can we do?"
One can assume that Mr. Saad was chosen as spokesperson for that horrific event because he was more sympathetic and could relay to Fran Crippen's family, friends and fans the sorrow that the UAE Swimming Association feels. Unfortunately, this guy failed immensely. And it has done nothing but hurt Fran's family.
In a Good Morning America interview (nod to GMA for an honest and considerate interview), Fran's sister Maddy hears what this moron says for the first time. (At about 4:50, click this link. The video is worth watching in its entirety.)
A search of the UAE Swimming Fed's website yielded no email or picture for Mr. Saad. So I sent them an email asking them politely to consider firing him, if he is still employed by them. If you feel the same, click on the link in the word email in the previous sentence.
RIP, Fran Crippen, and condolences to your family.
