You know those incredible food blogs with all the beautiful, glossy, color-saturated photos of perfectly prepared dishes? This ain't one of them. My pictures leave my food looking a tad washed out. Maybe I need to work on my photography skills. Or, maybe, you need to get over it!
Here's the pathetic visual rendering of my Russian cabbage soup schi. The photo just doesn't fully convey the soup's sexiness and desirability.
I didn't really follow any recipe. I read a bunch on the soup and then picked out my favorite ingredients and amounts. I used a head of cabbage, a jar of sauerkraut, garlic, onions, potatoes, can of diced tomatoes, caraway seeds, and chicken stock.
Then I added a shrub's worth of dill and ladled on the sour cream. It turned out really tasty. I was very happy with the soup. My husband wasn't thrilled with the sauerkraut overtones, but that was my favorite part.
I've tried to make a sauerkraut soup in the past with dismal results. But now I've got it all figured out -- turn to the cabbage experts for direction.
Few Thoughts...I Mean, A Few Thoughts.
Some thoughts:
The word "furlough" is funny.
People who argue that Libya is nothing like Iraq are cute and stupid at the same time. I just wanna take them home and shake them real hard.
O.K. Those are the only two thoughts I could make even a little funny. The pizza is ready and I'm hungry.
Just remember, life is good and too short. Enjoy it!
